2019 Gold Coast Film Festival
Since 2002, the Gold Coast Film Festival has brought filmmakers and movie buffs from all over the country to the Queensland Gold Coast for a huge celebration of film in Australia.
Aiming to discover and promote independent talents as well as showcase films of all genres made by both celebrated and up-and-coming filmmakers, the annual Gold Coast Film Festival is an inspirational and exciting event that brings the Gold Coast to life each year with a stunning program of exclusive film screenings, filmmaking workshops, special guest speakers, and other unmissable film-related events.
This 2019, the Gold Coast Film Festival will return with a diverse program that’s gearing up to be the most enjoyed yet.
On April 6, SIPFest: Short Film Festival will deliver an outdoor film experience featuring 14 finalist short films to be watched under the stars on Surfers Paradise Beach. Horror in the Hinterland will also invite cinephiles to the outdoor Australian Premiere screening of Australian survival-thriller THE FURIES followed by a screening of 2011 horror movie The Cabin in the Woods in Springbrook on April 13. Just bring a picnic rug or some chairs as there’ll be snacks and drinks onsite!
On April 7, don’t miss a showing of Red Dog at HOTA in Surfers Paradise, which will also be hosting two days of Blind Cinema on April 12 and April 13. If you’re looking for a unique movie experience to remember, make sure to catch Floating Cinema on April 10, which will take rom-com lovers on a riverboat with a big screen showing of 50 First Dates.

UK Bee Geez
Coming to the RSL Club Southport near Aloha Apartments, the UK Bee Geez will bring an evening of “Saturday Night Fever” with all the biggest hits from groovy best-selling disco group the Bee Gees.
Get your ‘70s outfit on and be at the RSL Club this April for a show-stopping Bee Gees tribute featuring all the hits “Night Fever”, “Stayin’ Alive”, “More Than a Woman”, “Tragedy”, “You Should Be Dancing” and more! The UK Bee Geez, who formed in the UK but are now based on the Gold Coast, are one of the most successful Bee Gees tribute acts in the country, who bring all the costumes, dance moves and falsetto vocals to the stage with nearly 19 solid years of experience.
They’ve performed in multiple countries worldwide, leaving nothing but satisfied Bee Gees fans in their wake. If you’re diehard Bee Gees fan, sure not to the UK Bee Geez at the RSL Club in Southport on April 6.
Australian Street Entertainment Carnival
Be in Surfers Paradise over the Easter weekend for the 2019 Australian Street Entertainment Carnival! Reeling in the best buskers and street performers from all over the country, this thrilling four-day carnival will showcase raw Aussie talent in the streets of Surfers Paradise for onlookers and tourists of all ages - and it’s all going to be free.
You can expect an incredible atmosphere as you join over 50,000 people looking to be entertained, where there will be live music, acrobats, dance groups, sword swallowers, knife jugglers and lots more over the four-day program.
Just head to Surfers Paradise from April 19 to April 22.

Coming to HOTA this 2019, this high-energy production by former Australian Lord of the Dance performer Anthony Street is authentic Irish dance and fused with mesmerising illusion! It’s an on-stage spectacle for all ages and tastes, where both kids and adults alike can marvel at some of the best dancers and magicians in the country as they dazzle with outstanding choreography and mind-blowing illusions that will send your jaw to the floor.
